While black lip gloss and lipstick have been around forever, designers have updated the look for the fall collections. Clinique has started to the trend way back with its cult favorite: Almost Lipstick in Black Honey which actually looks more like a sheer wine on lips. Currently, leading the way is Yves Saint Laurent by way of Stefano Pilati, with black eyes and lips to match very short, blunt bobs. Pegged trousers aside, black lips was deemed the star of the collection that YSL have decided to release the very black lip gloss used at the show for a limited time. In our opinion, this black shiny gloss is for the very daring and must be worn with a dressier outfit to maintain its grittiness and couture factor. Otherwise it will work perfect for goth fans. In real life, it looks much more gray and can be topped on other lipstick colors for added drama.

Another option is Lancome's lip gloss in Piha Black. The main feature is its added shimmer making it more wearable. They have marketed it with a red lip gloss aptly called Piha Red, to reflect the color of the soles of Christian Louboutin shoes, and this is to be worn under the black gloss. Result? A very dramatic variation of scarlet lips as seen below.
